Fishnet Summer Top Pattern
This top is worked top down using DK 50% acrylic
50% cotton from hobbycraft Cotton Blend Plain Knit Craft (available in
various colours) or Scheepjes Softfun. The main criteria is for it to be DK in
50/50, 60/40 or 40/60 cotton acrylic. My top weighs 95g and I guess you could
say that mine is a Medium in size.
I am using a 4 so use either a 4.5 or a 5 if you have tight tension. (in the video I am using a 4.5 and my top is slightly bigger than a M, maybe a L)
Use stitch-markers to help you indicate which is the first box of the round. It is very hard to see which is the start of the row!

Method
Round 1: CH 130, making sure your chain is not twisted, SS to
close
Round 2: CH2, 1HDC in each chain, ss (130)
Round 3: *CH6 skip 4 stitches and SC in 5th stitch*, place a stitch marker in this box, repeat ** until you meet the box with the stitch marker but the last CH6 is done by doing CH3 and a treble crochet (2yo) in the first chain of the box with the stitch marker. (26 boxes)
(26 boxes)
Round 4: *CH7 and SC in

half box crochet before the box with the stitch marker. (26 boxes)
Tip: these last chains and
yo will increase with the amount of chains done to create your boxes so for
instance if you are doing CH 12 for your box you will do CH 6 and then 5yo
and with the loop already on your hook you will have 6 so 6+6 =12 (for an
uneven one e.g. 13 you do 7CH and 5yo +1 = 6 so 7+6 =13 ) from here on these
are called a half box crochet!
Round 5: *CH8 and SC in the
next box (around the chain)*, place a stitch marker in this box, repeat **
until you meet the box with the stitch marker but the last CH 8 is done by
doing CH4 and a half box crochet (3yo) in the top of the half box crochet
before the box with the stitch marker. (26 boxes)

Determine where the armholes will be:
Lay your top flat on the desk and place a stitch marker in the box where your loop is and count 8 for the front, place a stitch marker in 8th box and count 5 for the arm and place a stitch marker in 6th box and count 8 for the front placing a stitch marker in the 8th box and you should have 5 left for the arm.
Starting in the first box of 8 (with stitch marker)
Round 14: *CH16 and SC in the next box (around the chain) repeat ** until you meet the box with the stitch marker for the arms and skip those boxes going straight to the next stitch marked box, do the other 8 boxes and skip the 5 of the armholes again which will take you to the first box but the last CH16 is done by doing CH8 and a half box crochet (7yo) in the top of the half box crochet before the box with the stitch marker. (16 boxes)
Round 15 to 22: *CH16 and SC in the next box (around the chain)*, place a stitch marker in this box, repeat ** until you meet the box with the stitch marker but the last CH16 is done by doing CH8 and a half box crochet (7yo) in the top of the half box crochet before the box with the stitch marker. Measure the length to see if you need to add extra rounds.
To straighten the bottom edge:
Round 23: *CH10 and SC in the next box (around the chain)*, place a stitch marker in this box, repeat ** until you meet the box with the stitch marker, SS to close the round. PS It is possible you only need 8 chains, depending on how straight it becomes.
Round 24: CH2, 10HDC around each chain space. SS fasten off and weave in ends
To straighten the armholes:
Attach yarn with a standing SC in the middle of a chain space (around the chain) *CH10 and SC in the next box (around the chain)*, place a stitch marker in this box, repeat ** 8 times until you meet the box with the stitch marker, SS to close the round. Then CH2, 10HDC around each chain space. SS fasten off and weave in ends.
